Theatre and a Culture of Peace

The Maharishi School of Media celebrated “WORLD THEATRE DAY 2023”on Monday, March 27, 2023, from 1:30pm to 4:00pm in the Seminar Hall, MUIT, Noida Campus. 

The special guest for the celebration was Mr. Shrivardhan Trivedi, Sansani famed anchor & actor. He is an NSD graduate and has worked in various renowned plays and movies too. He gave in-depth knowledge of theatre to the students. His talk was focused on three main wings of a theatre, namely: writing, directing and acting.

The programme was graced by the august presence of Shri Ajay Prakash Shrivastava (Hon’ble Chancellor) and Shri Rahul Bharadwaj (Vice-President of Maharishi Group).

MUIT

Mr. Shrivardhan Trivedi kicked off the session with an interactive and energetic icebreaking activity. He explained the various aspects of theatre acting, direction and writing of plays by giving examples. During the session, the students were given a comprehensive understanding of story composition and script division. The directors were taught the art of shot composition and creating suspense through audience manipulation. Additionally, the actors were shown videos that highlighted the significance of eye movement, facial expressions, and body language. To conclude, a podcast was recorded with Mr. Trivedi, and the students interviewed him for the Rajvaarta YouTube channel.

The session commenced promptly at 2:00 pm in the Seminar Hall of MSM, with an attentive audience comprising of both students and faculty members of MSM, HOD, Ms. Ritu Prashar, Dr. S.S. Gupta, Ms. Bhavni Singh, Mr. Shivam Yadav, Mr. Sunil Kumar Yadav, Mr. Mohan Singh Rawat and Mr. Arvind Singh. Other staff members of MUIT Noida Campus were also present. The students' theatre presentation was met with resounding applause from all in attendance. The event culminated in an interactive session, with volunteers from the audience joining the artist. Prior to the conclusion of the one and a half hour session, a question and answer session was held, providing an opportunity for further engagement with the audience. The celebration was a highly successful event that achieved its objectives of educating, entertaining, and relaxing students. Through various activities, students were able to gain a deeper understanding of the different aspects of theatre and play-making. The event successfully sparked interest in theatre, directing, and acting among the budding student artists.
